I see a step at the main entrance. Can I use another entrance and get in from an inside hallway??
You can enter from the hotel next door.
Door entrance is difficult to manage due to bend and two doors so it can be done but it will be hard without assistance
I think everyday
Large groups,yes.
No
It's half a block south on Victoria St on the corner of Shuter and Victoria.
Yes. They re-opened on the same day, in time for dinner.
Great and friendly staff, quick service and wide variety of menu option. Started with calamari. It was a little overdone, sauce was good.Ordered two eggs with home fries and bacon. Eggs were done perfectly (over easy), home fries were excellent (crispy on the outside soft inside), bacon was overdone almost burnt, the only complaint I have.
MoreCame here for brunch one day and it was great. My buddy got a Caesar that literally changed the way I thought about them. It was great and the food was good. Great little spot.
MoreGood food. Good service. Highly recommended.
Enjoyed the food and service here. Service was attentive and food came relatively quick. Portions were decent, similar to most other breakfast restaurants. Prices were average, a bit cheaper than some of their competitors and I personally enjoyed the old school atmosphere.
MoreGreat place for a late night feed, the food was tasty, hardy. Lovely generous servings of both the food and drinks. The service was great too
MoreFood is good. Really big selection. Attentive wait staff. Cons: you have to go outside to access the washrooms as the door to them is being serviced for the last few weeks. How long did it take to fix a door? Also, it just seems dusty in there. I like the old diner still but it doesn't have to appear that there is old dust there. Amazing breakfast will keep me coming back. But please let me substitute the pancake for a waffle. I hate pancakes.
MoreGreat place to dine if you are visiting from out of country. The brunch was busier than usual during my visit but the order was filled as me and my friend requested. The chicken and waffles here were delicious to say the least. The food was warm and the service was fantastic. The interior of the diner has the 1950s vibe and the external area is great for pictures since it is in the downtown Toronto District. This alongside, other restaurants in the area are always visited by myself and my colleagues when we come to Toronto. There are multiple entrees that fill that hunger for Weekend brunches. The service is great and everyone is happy to be at work, ready to assist all patrons.
MoreCelebrated International Pancake Day with a Big Breakfast combo art Fran's.. Honestly, it's just a great Toronto staple this place.. The service was great, the food was great, I'll be back...I always am.
MoreFast service, okay price, huge portions, and tasty food. Calamari was delicious. Can always count on a good all day breakfast option. Harvarti Burger was yummy, however I dont think it's worth the $15 price tag (won't be ordering again). Great variety in menu options. Retro modern decor. I will definitely be back.
MoreThis place is opened 24 hrs. Come for pretty decent breakfast food anytime. It gets busy if there’s something happening downtown or at Massey Hall (across the street), but generally, it’s a pretty good in and out spot.
MoreI've been to this location twice with my girlfriend and both were the best diner experiences of my life. From the moment we walk in till we leave the staff is extremely friendly, light, and comforting. The food is always delicious and surprisingly quick!! For everyone who knows me knows I'm not a huge fan of pancakes but the ones at Frans are out of this world! So soft, delicious and they smell incredible from the moment it hits your table. Will defenitly be coming more often
MoreI love this place. Found it 9 years ago and havent looked back! I always get the traditional eggs meal or the lasagna and it really is such a great order. Their french toast is also very yummy! For a quick casual bite to eat, or late at night munchies this is the spot!
MoreGreat food. Great staff. Always open +++. Great first experience and delicious grilled cheese. Digging the ketchup bottle design.
MoreFran's is my favourite diner!! Fran's is like that awesome aunt, she's always there when you need her. Sweet and reliable. Would always recommend :)
MoreFran’s is a cool, comfort diner to please almost any appetite. They have breakfast lunch and dinner options, along with dessert available 24 hrs a day. I found the place while searching for chili for my dinner and here it’s a huge meal that doesn’t need a salad to compliment your dinner pangs. The chili has meat, tomatoes, carrots, celery, and kidney beans. There are enough spices to make you notice but smooth enough to the palate to go down and fill your belly. I find that Caesar salad is best with fresh squeezed lemon on it and way too much food if you’ve ordered chili or another hearty meal (the regular size is pretty big). We managed to make room for a warm rice pudding and it was delicious! Try this place...you’ll enjoy it.
MoreIf you're looking for an imaginative greasy spoon restaurant than this is your joint. I ended up ordering the croissant omelette which is exactly as described with an omelet being draped over a croissant, I don't believe that the croissants are baked in house nor are they fresh as it looks like a store-bought croissant which is just had some egg poured over top of it. The potatoes were okay as good as any other Diner you've been to, the staff is incredibly nice. My server was named Emily and she's very nice and prompt, the management is a little bit weird as they seem to be heavily micromanaging The waiting staff there. The manager ended up actually bringing out my food.
MoreMy favorite at Frans is always the grilled cheese. It's classic diner style. Great milkshakes too! Burgers are homemade, but all the patties are extra spicey. So if you don't like peppery stick with the grilled cheese.
MoreFRANS is small chain of Restaurants in Toronto. First location Opened since 1940s. Its a 24 hour open diner style service place. With a large meal offered breakfast, lunch and dinner items. We decided to try breakfast dishes with coffee. Coffee was strong and good! The meals tastes great as well. The home fries well seasoned. Service was good and atmosphere was nice. We went to Yonge st. Location close to Eaton Center.
MoreIt was one of the very few restaurants which were open at 2am. We were greeted by an old server. He was welcoming and took our order. We ordered Fran's Sandwich and Chicken Wings. Food was properly cooked and tasted well. We really liked the old pictures on the walls from many decades back. It was a clean and tidy restaurant. Highly recommended!
MoreAmazing breakfast & brunch place. Great pancakes!! Food is amazing. We went here before our play. Enjoyed it a lot.
MoreQuick service and a menu that caters to even the fussiest of eaters -- great variety. Tastes absolutely delicious! Loved my strawberry shake!
MoreJust stumbled across this while walking from our hotel. So glad we went in. Service was top notch, food came out quickly. And the food itself was sooooooo good. Would recommend to anyone who wants breakfast in Toronto to come here. All round 10/10 experience.
Morefive stars. excellent service, the food was AMAZING and the portions were just right... would 100% reccommend. ps. the cranberry juice is bomb!
MoreThis place was good. Food was tasty. Atmosphere was good.
With their food, their sitting arrangement and cleanliness is also good..ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘.... Moreover, their services are also good as their staff is really cooperative and friendly😄.
MoreFran's is a Toronto institution. I have been there so many times. Anywhere that serves pancakes at 3am is a gem. Food is always good. My preference is their breakfast items but haven't had anything bad. I find their quality is above other 24/7 diners. Their milkshakes are deliciois.
MoreMy to go to place for breakfast, the best pancakes I ever had! Must try with their special maple syrup 😠Refillable coffee! Cool American style diner, always busy. Even if there is a lineup, it doesn’t take long to get seated. Nice location right outside of Eaton Centre and St. Michael’s hospital. Servers are polite and friendly, consistently check on tables 👠Definitely suggest for breakfast or brunch.
MoreGreat American comfort food with tons of veggie options, including veggie sausage. Huge menu and good quality. Efficient and attentive service even during rush. I'm looking forward to going back again.I had the Portabello Benedict. It is a lighter option than the usual bread base.
MoreGreat food. Good prices. friendly staff.I like everything on their menu. Including the dessert options. They have a retro look and good prices. Definitely give any Fran's location a try.
MoreHow can you have any issue with a diner open 24 hours?? Friendly staff and good food! Enjoyed the meatloaf and breakfast!
MoreGreat food and prices. Very cool atmosphere since it has been there for a while. One of the best meals we have had in a while.
MoreAn institution in Toronto with multiple locations. This one is convenient to shopping, shows, bars and churches. It is open early and closes late. Great for breakfast and late night meals.
MoreVery fast service. Friendly staff who were able to help us with our order. Overall a great experience.
MoreThe staff member taking our order was welcoming. The food was OK. It was well-cooked, but it lacked something. I don't know exactly, salt or spices. It was not tasty enough. Other than that the ambiance is really nice here.
MoreMy friend and I were in the area and wanted pancakes for dinner. Fran's came through, as it always does, with a good hearty meal. It was exactly what we were expecting, so we can't fault that at all. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Getting exactly what I expect in food and getting good service is worth a 5. It's diner/family food and better than many places do. They kept the free coffee refills coming too. Downside is that due to some renovation, you have to go outside and into the main entrance of the hotel the diner is in to access the toilets. I assume this temporary.
MoreLovely little diner, food is exactly what you’d expect from a diner like this. Notably, Mr David Sedaris invited a guest and I to try the food at Fran’s about 8 years ago and ever since, we’ll eat there when we’re in the mood for diner food... I mean, good enough for David Sedaris is good enough for me!!!
MoreGreat food and friendly staff
We went here past midnight and the place had a warm, inviting atmosphere. Service was spot-on and the food was good. Plenty of paid parking around, and the restaurant itself is in close proximity of the Eaton Centre and various other entertainment establishments.
MoreGreat prices, huge portions and great breakfast food. Been going here when we travel to Toronto for 10 years and we will continue.Service was quick, friendly and professional.Home fries are some of the best I’ve had, crunchy and well seasoned.
MoreWonderful place and excellent home cooked feel. Tip: we ordered 1 "big breakfast " and split it between the 2 of us... comes $8 ish each...great option to reduce costs ! Great service , coffee refilled regularly with a friendly smile .
MoreBreakfast Tots (Tater tots, eggs, cheese, bacon and Hollandaise sauce) What a ridiculous invention and I loved it. Gotta have the rice pudding too!!!
MoreI love Fran's diner! It's an easy going place with a cute 50s diner style decor and open 24h. The menu has a wide range so there's something for everyone (vegan friendly) at a decent price. When I want good for a good price and a laid back feel this is my go to.
MoreTerrific service even though it was quite busy. I had the hot beef sandwich on rye. For my taste, rye bread was the wrong choice vs white. I will know for next time! My girl had beef vegetable soup and it was almost chili thick and delicious!
MoreWe really enjoy Fran's. It's a diner---plain and simple. Don't expect anything other than well priced, decent diner food and you're good. It's our place to go if we're close and want breakfast or diner food.
MoreGreat food. Wonderful service by Steven. Standard pricing for big city eating. Ate here twice during a two day stay. ( bathrooms were under repair, but not an issue for us.)
MoreWonderful service. We got in and they estimated a fifteen minute wait. Perfect timing, and considering it was the lunch rush the wait was far less than we expected it to be. Servers were great and everything is fast paced. The really put the rush in "lunch rush". No complaints, foodr portions were perfect, and everyone was happy with their meal. There were some nice vegetarian options in the menu too, and I love that it's open 24/7
MoreI ordered the daily breakfast special and it didn't disappoint. But the service was incredible. It was like, as soon as I thought about something, it was delivered. More coffee, more creamers, replacement napkins just as I noticed it had fallen from my lap. Wonderful experience while my wife was at St. Mike's across the street.
MoreIt was our lucky day!! What a pleasant surprise! This restaurant has been serving all day breakfast in this location for 60 plus years. The portion sizes are very generous. Our eggs came out just as we ordered them. The coffee was excellent and seemingly non stop. The service was great, If you arrive at prime time times whether it's a weekend morning/day or weekday expect to wait a bit. They're busy!! The value is exceptional!!
MoreMy wife & I came here one day for lunch, then the next morning for breakfast. Both times, we were absolutely happy after we left. The menu has a wide selection of dishes. I'm no expert on poutine, but I thought it was good. The burgers are so delicious and tender. The big breakfast is the probably the best breakfast item. They serve breakfast all day, so you can't go wrong. Service was also great. I highly recommend!
